a lot of outside

where have you been?? (you ask)
i'll show you

last weekend i got to tag along on heather's senior portrait shoot.
it was so nice for her to finally be the one photographed!
she is so beautiful but it's always hidden behind the camera...
did the photos and i just know they are going to be amazing.
she had the best attitude and enthusiasm the whole shoot. it made for such a fun day!
i will show you some of heather once we get 'em back.
for now, jenny posted this one of both of us on her blog.
it made me so happy! i love my sister to the moon and back!
 and speaking of heather,
we bid her farewell this week as she and her bff chloe (left) set off to see the amazon!
they are going on a service trip to brazil with their school.
i am so jealous i can't even stand it.
miss you already, girls!
i don't know about the rest of america, but texas has had some damn good weather lately.
it's cool in the shade, hot in the sun, blue skies and white clouds.
we took advantage of it this week by having a picnic in the park!
we picked up jason's deli (now serving gluten free sandwiches! woot!) and headed off with tobe and a blanket.  i even shared some of my bacon with toby.
munch munch munch...
but it's never enough with toby and food.
toby also had to go see the doctor this week.
he didn't enjoy it much,
but at least we have a healthy pup on our hands!
speaking of that, he is doing really good with his leg recovery!
walking on all four legs again and his leg hair may even grow back someday..

i felt so bad for him after the surgery, i couldn't stand putting him through a haircut too.
so we put it off.. and put it off.. and put it off some more....
and now the little man has turned into an ewok.

i hope you are getting a chance to enjoy the best part of texas seasons!
hopefully we will see you again soon,
but a little less shaggy..

bringing back the travel blog

i just couldn't stand not having my travel blog anymore!

it was originally intended for our one trip around the world,
but there have been so many great trips since then!

so it's back.

i hope to see you there!

*love to all my peoples*

hugs and puppy kisses

lots of love to all my valentines!
toby is still embarrassed about his shavey leg...
he's been in the hood a lot lately.
andrew and i celebrated valentines a day early, since we are busy on tuesday night.
so tonight we went india palace for dinner.
the food was amazing and andrew gave me this badass ring!
(it's a snake)
 and i gave andrew this:
a bag full of socks and underwear.
(since he has a real problem with losing his- where he is losing them too is still a mystery)
i attached each with a note of reasons i love him.
and i got him some new kicks!
 toby got a few extra puppy treats;
and, of course, his valentines day hoodie.
despite being a boy dog, one of toby's favorite blankets is pink.
i hope everyone feels loved this valentines day.
we love you!

a get well soon blanket

thank you to everyone that expressed such concern for little tobe!
his recovery has gone very well and he will be back to normal in no time!

he still hates that cone though..
he hates the scratchy sound that it makes against his ears the most.
so i covered it in an old tshirt.
this greatly improved the situation.
now, i'm not much of a crafter or a diy type of girl.
however, i wanted to make toby a little get well soon present!
i went to joann's and picked out the softest fabric they had (that also happened to be slightly expensive).

the woman cutting the fabric kept asking questions about who the blankets were for,
and i kept giving vague answers that sounded like they were probably for human babies.
at last she had me in a corner with "are they twins?" and "are they related to you?"
and i broke down.  "to be perfectly honest," i said reluctantly, "they are for dogs.."

her reaction:
"ohhhhhh weeeeee!!  i aint nevah heard of a dog gettin' spoiled like that!  these must be some pampered little puppies!  they gettin' nicer blankets than i got on mah bed at home!!!"
(screaming these things)

i sigh heavily and mumble something about dogs being children too,
and purchase my fuzzy fabrics.
i made a pink one and a blue one
(for toby and his cousin low ryder the weenie dog- who also had surgery recently)
both are whale print and both have brown backs.
i am no martha stewart with a sewing machine, but the fuzzy fabric hides all most of the mistakes.
then i cut out a little puppy to go on each one
(toby isn't really a dog with an obvious silhouette so this is what i came up with):
i sewed on the little puppies while toby watched anxiously.
 ta da!
 here is low ryder's blanket:
toby has been seriously loving his present!
like it's his new favorite thing in the house.
and it relieves some of the stress of the cone...
now let the super bowl countdown begin!!
