occupy the bowl

guys, i gotta get something off my chest.
i know this isn't a political platform... but i need to voice a very serious problem
in the small dog community.

big dogs get big bowls.
small dogs get small bowls.

this is totally unfair.
 did someone say breakfast???
 false alarm...
this inequality will not stand...

we will not be silenced.

lindsey, here.
don't feel too bad for him- he got special thanksgiving food all last week.

and yes, that is an ipad app that lets you make "cardboard" protest signs.
and yes, i see the irony.

hope everyone's thanksgiving was full of pie and stuffing.
there was way too much "stuffing" at my house..

welcoming the holidays

like i said, downtown dallas is the place to be to soak up the holiday spirit!
saturday night, we went out to see the sights.
toby took full advantage of all the snacking.  he perked up his ears, put on the puppy dog eyes, and begged his hardest.
the big tree in the park was waiting patiently to be lit.
there was a pair of stilted soldiers:
and main street was all blocked off.
these giant colored balls are hanging over each intersection:
and neimans looks an awful lot like a toy store.
everything is twinkling!
and the trees are stuffed full with these tube-y lights.  the light falls from the top to bottom of the tube and makes it look like the trees are raining light!  so beautiful...
neimans has three huge twinkly christmas trees.
when it was time for tree lighting, we gathered near the park.
and there were surprise fireworks!
the tree lit up and twinkled along with the music.
we turned back down main street..
 and on came the parade!
santa was there in a really cool car:
 and then came the band!
it was the hardin-simmons cowboy band!
(they are from abilene, tx- my birthplace)
i live in that building on the left.
and, finally, i must show you the amazing neiman marcus display!
the whole thing is this gigantic web of tunnels for little children to climb through.
they wind around through the display windows,
and each one has a new scene.
they are all so extravagant and detailed- you can stare at them for hours!
this one is the little cookie factory with floating butterflies all around.
this one is red and full of gifts wrapped with red ribbons.
how fun do those tunnels look??
this window was my favorite.  i love gold decorations and this one was covered in it.
you really need to come see these for yourself, if you get the chance.
 and here is the exit!
everyone was gathered around and the line was almost a block long!
 everyone was loving it.
it was a fantastic way to kick off the holiday season!
now on to thanksgiving!!

a little ketchup

clearly i'm a little behind on blogging.  luckily the holidays are rapidly approaching
so i'll have plenty to share with you!

for now, i'll catch you up on the last two weeks via phone pictures.

a couple weekends ago we (me, andrew, heather, and parents)
flew to chicago to visit my bro!  we took a flight at the crack of dawn,
and arrived in chicago just in time for the most beautiful day in history!
after a day of wandering around the city, seeing the sights, and eating
some fantastic food, we headed down to the gallery where alex's show was.
my brother is an unbelievably talented person, and, among many other things, he
creates a type of film/performance art called "glitch."
we got to see him and his friends perform while we were there and it was totally amazing
and entertaining.  i was so so proud of my little bro!
we had another early flight home.
this afforded us an unbelievable view of the city in the sunrise!
what a wonderful city that is...
once back home, fall has been showing up left and right.
the air got nippy and my floors got cold.
at last, sweatshirt weather has arrived!
a foggy day is my favorite day,
but a little sun can be nice too!
needless to say, we've spent a lot of time on the roof lately- soaking up the lovely fall.
my cowboys had a big win last week.  lets keep our fingers crossed that it continues.
and i've been in the gym every day this month (pats self on back).
camp dave fit (below) is helping me get wedding ready!
i haven't lost any pounds yet, but definitely some inches.  i'll keep you posted.
for now i'm assuring myself that you have to build muscle to burn fat...
andrew sent me this while biking over from bishop arts.
how i love a rainy day!
these little guys undoubtedly agree with me:
and toby refuses to leave the bed when it rains.
downtown dallas has been bustling with excitement!
tonight they are unveiling this year's christmas display at neimans, and
lighting the tree in the park.
if you live and dallas and want to join in the festivities, come to the main street garden
at 6:00 pm! (saturday, november 19)
yesterday my mom and i got to drive out to the lake together to pick out wedding spots.
it was so fun and now i'm all pumped up!
imagine this huge tree surrounded in picnic tables and lanterns, dripping with candles and flowers!
i am so freaking excited.
alas, i awoke to a bit of a cold this morning,
so i'm sipping tea and watching some of my favorite movies.
i'm sure i'll be better in no time!
so nice to see you again!
i'll be back soon, i promise!

oh my goodness, i'm already salivating at the thought of thanksgiving...

tobe around town

today, andrew, toby and myself went on a long explore through the city!
first we walked to the farmer's market.
the view of downtown is lovely from here.
andrew and toby were both wearing their gray hoodies.
toby saw and avoided this place.
it was chilly and beautiful out and we were loving being outside!
we made a pit stop by the park.  toby got some great smells in.
at last we made it back home.
 on main street.
 what an adventure!
hope you are enjoying fall in your city!
